a historic woodworking factory and sawmill that was founded in the 1880s and kept active until 1958. This museum witnesses one of the most important economic sectors of the past of this area. The Northumberland Strait
provides us with the warmest waters north of the Carolinas and offers some nice beaches where you can relax in any weather! Our favourite beaches are Blue Sea Beach in Malagash Point (35 min), where you can detect seals in the early mornings, and Rushton’s Provincial Beach Park on Rt. 6, where tidal salt marches are an ideal spot for viewing seabirds (20 min).

In Truro, you can observe the highest tides in the world coming from the Bay of Fundy rushing inland up the Salmon River creating a tidal bore sometimes up to 3’ high.
On raining days visit the many museums that highlight local history, including Mi’kmaq and Acadian Heritage in Tatamagouche, shipbuilding, salt mining etc. Brule Fossil Center exhibits fossils from one of the most important trackways in the world: you can discover conifers and footprints preserved from 290 million years ago.
